InternPlus connects college students to local start-ups and small businesses for paid, professional positions. InternPlus students work up to 20 hours a week for $15 per hour. Students will also receive hands-on entrepreneurial education through working side-by-side with entrepreneurs on their companys immediate needs. Additionally, the cohort of accepted students will take part in a series of career readiness workshops to prepare for future employment opportunities.
The InternPlus program seeks to minimize the barrier to entry for students from communities that are traditionally underrepresented in internship programs, by encouraging applications from college students who identify as one or more of the following: BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), Female, Nonbinary (preferred umbrella term for all genders other than female or male).

Eligibility
- Seeking an internship in graphic design, marketing, social media, web development, and sales.
- Reliable transportation to and from work is required (internships held at Innovation DuPage and businesses located in DuPage County).
- Must be a current college student.
- Must be in good academic standing with the College.
Schedule
Interns will work up to 15 hours per week. Each hired intern’s exact weekly schedule will be determined in concert with their employer. Career Readiness Workshops will take place monthly from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Workshops are expected to be held in-person at Innovation DuPage, 535 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

About the Program
InternPlus connects college students with paid internships with Innovation DuPage Members, providing a valuable workforce development opportunity for the student and a subsidized resource for bootstrapping ID Members. The cost of the internship is split between Innovation DuPage and the member company. Interns can work up to 20 hours/week at $15/hour, gaining hands-on entrepreneurial experience alongside startup and small business owners, plus scheduled career readiness workshops to help prepare for future employment. Interested students should:
- Be available to work up to 20 hours/week
- Commit to the full program, including all career readiness workshops
- Be a current college student in good academic standing
- Have reliable transportation to and from work

Access Subsidized Student Talent and Support
InternPlus Program connects ID Members in need of business support with motivated college students seeking meaningful, paid work experience. Through our wage-sharing model, InternPlus helps subsidize the cost of hiring interns while providing students with valuable career development opportunities.
Through InternPlus, ID subsidizes 50% of the intern's wages, up to $15 per hour, for up to 20 hours per week and for up to one year; Members provide the required dollar-for-dollar match. This shared-investment model helps ID Members access talented student workers at a reduced cost while creating meaningful paid work experiences that prepare students for future careers.
How InternPlus Works
- Step 1: Complete the Employer Interest Form
Tell us about your internship needs, and the types of projects a student could support.
- Step 2: Submit a Job Description
Send your internship description to internplus@innovationdupage.org.
- Step 3: Meet with the ID Team
ID staff will connect with you to discuss the program, your goals, and intern candidates
- Step 4: Candidate Recruitment & Screening
ID recruits candidates through local colleges and community partners, conducts initial screening, and refers qualified candidates for your review and interviews.
- Step 5: Select Your Intern
You interview candidates and choose who best meets your organization's needs.
- Step 6: Onboard & Launch
ID supports student onboarding and program participation requirements, and your intern begins contributing to your business.
