Around Town visits Local Glass Studio

The Around Town segment featured a visit to Local Glass Studio in Glen Ellyn, an ID company founded by CEO Brenda Bickett. Instructor Jay Eddie Byrne led a hands-on demonstration showcasing glass-making techniques using color rods and heat torches. Hosts Larry Robin and Anna expressed their enthusiasm for the segment, highlighting its ongoing appeal and educational value. Jay explained how glass is heated until it becomes liquid and then shaped into decorative items such as pendants and bases. Local Glass offers interactive classes for a wide range of age groups, welcoming students as young as 12 or 13 with parental discretion. Notable young learners, Trevor and Olivia, were highlighted as examples of the studio’s successful youth engagement. The WGN feature came about through a connection made by Marcella Raymond, founder of member company Marcella Raymond Media, who introduced Brenda Bickett to the Around Town team. Under Brenda’s leadership, the studio continues to expand its educational programs, promote creativity, and maintain a strong commitment to community outreach.
